Speech given at the West Denver Auraria Historical Society. Grace talks about her father, John Dailey and his role in the early days of the Rocky Mountain News (Denver, Colo.). John talks about his parents, his years with the Bell telephone system and his life in Montana.

John Lewis Dailey was a pioneer Denver, Colo. publisher, printer, businessman, and politician. He was born on Nov. 29, 1833 in Tiffin, Ohio. Dailey came with the William N. Byers party to Denver (1859) and co-founded The Rocky Mountain News with Byers, Dr. George Monell, and Thomas Gibson. He later sold his interest in the News to Byers (1870) and began his own printing and binding business, Dailey, Baker & Smart.
